Preparations For Minetown Day 2012 Have Begun

 

The Minetown Day Planning Team held its first meeting on February 1st in preparation for the 2012 Minetown Day Festival to be held September 8th 2012.

 The 9 organizing committees are:

  •  Volunteer coordination,
  •  Parade,
  •  Vendors and concessions,
  •  Utilities,
  •  Rides and games
  •  Stage talent,
  •  Art showcase
  •  Promotion and advertising.
  •  Family Dance

Team meetings for 2012 will be held in the District of Lantzville building at 7pm on May 9th and August 8th for committee reports and feedback, September 4th for judging of photographs and colouring

September 6th for volunteer orientation.

  •  Committee work and communication is done primarily by e-mail.
  •  We like to keep meetings to a minimum.

At the first meeting for 2012 the team reviewed the 2011 festival and made some changes to reflect feedback from participants and from the observations of the planning team made during the event.

 

There will be a family dance in the Costin Hall on the evening of the festival day September 8th.

The hugely popular Lantzvilles Got Talent competition will be divided into children, teens and adults this year. Cash prizes and rosettes will be awarded.

The colouring competion will continue with prizes and ribbons.

This year we will be adding a photography competition to the artistic showcase.

The winner will receive a rosette. The photograph will be displayed in a prominent place in the community and the winners name and title of the photo will be added to a perpetual trophy to be displayed along with the winning photograph. Judging will be based on composition, subject, and the best depiction of life in Lantzville. Processing quality will not be a factor. Humour welcome!

Here are the rules

  1.  ONE entry per person with an appropriate title.
  2.  Must be:
  3. taken between Sept 1st 2011 and August 31st 2012
  4. reflective of “Life in Lantzville”
  5. printed photo 8 x 11 colour or black and white
  6.  submitted to the district office by 4pm on Sept 4th
