Legion Has New Executive For 2016

The local Legion has completed elections for the year 2016 and some new faces decorate the executive.  A change at the “President” level, not surprisingly, was made as the 2014 & 15 President, Roy Cardinal has assumed a more senior position with the Legion organization.  The “new” President, Anne Marie Smith, comes with excellent credentials.  She has held positions as secretary and vice-president as well as the very important role as “Service Officer”. Anne Marie is a veteran of  the R.C.A.F. and has been involved in numerous other community groups  such as the NRGH Foundation.

Anne Marie will be passing the position of “Service Officer” to Rob Hutchison.  Rob is a 28 year veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy with a rank of  Petty Officer 1st class on release.  He has since become an Anglican Priest and is also the Legion Branch Padre.  For veterans or veteran dependents requiring assistance, he can be reached at 1 (250) 228-8233 or e-mail robhutch2902@hotmail.com.

Other exciting happenings at the Legion include “Juke Box Poker” every Friday night at 6:00, there is food service and lots of prizes.  The regular Saturday meat draws at 3:30 are on for all to enjoy with a good selection of prizes.  The Ladies Auxiliary also conduct a 50/50 draw.
