Media Release

Every November we gather as fellow citizens to honour Fallen, pay tribute to the spirit of our men and women in uniform, and Remember, the freedoms we enjoy in our lives, have come at great sacrifice.  We share in this community reverence, all ages and all cultures from diverse walks of life.

It is therefore with great community pride that Seaview Centennial Legion Branch #257 announces a fundraising campaign to erect a new Cenotaph for the citizens of Lantzville.

His Worship the Mayor, Jack de Jong and Council of the District of Lantzville donated land in Huddleston Park for our new community Cenotaph.  This location will be a centerpiece for our commemorative memorial and a public reminder of our legacy of Remembrance.

Our goal is to raise $150,000 for the new community Cenotaph.  We call upon businesses, service organizations, social agencies, sports clubs, school classes and citizens to join with us in holding fun, inspired fundraising activities.  Let’s share our ideas and support one another as we collectively work towards this goal.

We know we can do it if we plan and work together!  Contact Committee Chair, Jim McEwan at (250) 751-2775 or Branch #257 Royal Canadian Legion at (250) 390-2108 for more information.
